Length: 5 m 41 s for Linden's version, 6 m 41 s for Luz' version
Author's summary: "...It ended... badly. She had a darkness inside her..."- Fraser, in You Must Remember This
Notes: This is a fannish poem, and it's also a pretty dark werewolf AU. I recorded it for the challenge, and then when Linden and I were at a fannish meet-up, she recorded it, as well! Thanks to the Danish fen at the meet-up for being the audience and sounding board for both versions.

Title: Ajax Fassbender’s Amateur Guide to Zombie Wrangling
Author: Brigantine
Characters: Fraser/Kowalski, Stella Kowalski, Diefenbaker, Shelly Litvak
Rating: PG-13
Length: 17,730
Summary: After Ray Vecchio disappears undercover into the wilds of Las Vegas, Fraser decides it’s high time to quit moping, and get on with life. Diefenbaker puts in his two cents, which is pretty much where the trouble starts.

A/N: This is a total fantasy version of Chicago, though Seamus is real. I swear.

My courageous betas, [personal profile] green_grrl, [personal profile] umbo and [personal profile] boxofdelights each contributed savvy observations and helpful suggestions, all of which proved useful, and for which I am most grateful! If this thing is still a disaster, that's all on me.

Hi everyone! The coming weekend is the posting weekend: instructions are here. Except that this is the last posting weekend and so the end of the challenge.

Are you scrambling to finish? Or just sitting back and relaxing and enjoying your finished work? Do tell us about it. : ) And do use the comments to ask for beta help, if you need it.

Also, check out the results of the AU Play Day! There are some pretty cool things in there.

Good luck with your works, everyone! \o/

WELCOME to our DS-C6D Alternate Universe Play Day! To play, simply grab one or more of the 86 prompts from the initial brainstorming list and do something with it! This is open to everyone, no minimums, no betas needed, no pressure -- just PLAY!

ANY type of fanwork is welcome as long as you somehow convey that there's an alternate universe involved. Sample work types include but aren't limited to: fic, art, vids, podfic, manips, mixed media, yarncraft, six word stories, limericks, thumbnail doodles, paperclip sculptures, mashed potato sculptures, one-sentence-fic, etc.

You can play as many times as you want. You can use as many prompts (as many times) as you want. Please put different AUs into different comments (eta: Unless you're doing something like one-sentence-fic of a zillion separate prompts. Use your best judgment!)

When you're ready, put your work in a comment to this post using the following format:
In the subject line: Fandom; AU; Rating; Relationships
For example: Due South; Animal transformation AU; Mature; FKV

If your work has triggery content, put a brief content warning/advisory in the first line of your comment, right at the top. If you want to choose not to warn, put "Author chooses not to warn". If there's nothing to warn for, skip this.

Make sure your work is going in a reply to this post instead of a reply to someone else's comment!

Please remember to give feedback to people when you enjoy their works!

Okay! Are you ready? This post will be open for roughly 24 hours, so grab an Alternate Universe (or several) and PLAY! \o/

ONE WEEK.

It's Fraser/Kowalski and it's huge, like 17,000+ words. I'm so sorry. I was sure it'd run about 10,000, and then it was over 21,000, and I gutted it by about a quarter, then had to add a bit during the re-work, so... yeah.

I think it mostly makes sense, and it might not be terrible, but I've got to the point where I've edited and re-worked and re-read this bad boy so many times I barely know what I'm looking at anymore, so yeah, a fresh pair of eyes would be swell.

Anybody want to give it a shot?

ETA: I know most folkette here are busy finishing their projects for the final posting weekend, so I think I'll post this to my own journal and see if some brave soul can step in. ;)

ETA to ETA: We have a winner! [personal profile] boxofdelights has courageously volunteered. :D

So, I've just torn out about 25% of what I wrote for my AU fic. OMG....

It was supposed to be very plotty and a bit of a whodunnit, and that had shaped up pretty nicely, but all of a sudden this morning the whole fic just seemed bloated, and the dual POV I've been working with all along seemed Wrong, All Wrong, and gutting commenced.

It's not that I didn't like the scenes I'd written. I was quite happy with each of them, which makes it that much harder to dump them. /o\

I've spent the whole day smoothing out the jagged edges left behind and hoping this will work. It will obviously give the story a much different feel, and it won't be the plotty crime story I set out to write, but if what I've done was the right thing to do, it will be a better story anyway. I hope. :P

I have, of course, kept the previous ungutted version of the story intact, in case this doesn't work out. I'm not crazy. But I do have to doubt my good sense in ripping it apart like this with two weeks to go, and hoping to send it off to a beta next week.

I'm not the only person who puts herself through this kind of nonsense, am I?

2 WEEKS!!

Hi everyone! How are your projects going? Your mod is determined to set aside a time for writing today, and then come back to report the wordcount. Feel free to do the same for your project if you want! *cheers you all on*

There will be one last chat before the posting weekend: it will tentatively be on Sunday the 11th at 18:00 GMT (what time is this for me?).

Hold onto your socks, y'all. There are only six weeks left until our FINAL deadline Aug 30-Sept 1! (Is it me, or has time seriously flown?) Please remember to leave enough time to get your work beta'd and then to make appropriate edits before the posting weekend. All works must be beta'd+revised, no matter what medium you're working in.

Questions:
+ Another support chat, y/n? If yes, when sounds good? Let us know below.
+ How are things going with your projects? Has your 'verse thrown you a curveball?

As always, we invite you to use the comments below to vent, celebrate, log progress, request assistance, offer help, cheerlead, etc. Let us know if you have any questions!

Best of luck, everyone! \o/

Hi everyone! I was sad to miss the chat yesterday, but I was in my parents' summer cabin and their mobile internet was just not working. /o\

Anyway, I hope you all had a good chat and got some support. Have you got any new ideas? Done any new work on your projects? Or are you stuck, or busy with other things? If you want to, do post a little tidbit of what you're working on for us to see!

Your mods have just discovered that the AU chat clashes with the Big Bang chat! So we'll be moving the AU chat to Sunday 20.00 GMT instead (what time is this for me?).

Welcome everyone! : ) Just comment if you have any questions.

Hi everyone! I am home again, and I'm so impressed at the AU works that were posted while I was away. So many cool things, and I still haven't made my way through all of them.

So, how are you doing? Pondering your options? Blocked and not sure how to proceed? Happily working away at your project? Do tell us about it! : )
