Motivation!

Hi everyone! How are your projects going? Are you, like your mod, easily distracted today (so distracted that you post to your journal instead of the comm)? Or maybe you have gotten a lot done and want to tell us all about it? We'd love to see little tidbits of your work, if you want to post them!

If you're stuck, do post about that, too, and we can all pitch in and see if we can get you un-stuck. : )

And don't forget to fill in the poll about which chat time would work for you.

I've been having an epic battle with the top half of Turtle's shell and I still don't even know that it's going to look right when it's all put together, but omg I don't care anymore. I'm starting on the lower shell now, which unbuttons like a vest/waistcoat to reveal a Very Naked Turtle. It is CUTE, but I'm afraid it also looks like I had no flipping idea what I was doing, despite the number of times I've ripped it apart and remade it. Such is the story of my life, though, so maybe things will turn out okay.

Also, totally unsure whether to make Turtle's intergalactic space detective badge a pendant around his neck or a brooch pinned to his shell. Dief's will hang around his neck like a dogtag, so maybe a pendant would be fine. It'll just hang *really* low.

Next up, an Iguana family enforcer.

Awww, the unbuttoning bit sounds really cute! I think it's cool that you're doing it freehand. And yay for starting on the next character soon!

Hmm, I would maybe do it as a pendant? You can't pin a brooch to a hard shell (although I guess you could attach it some other way). I mean, I know the shell is really made of yarn, but in the story it's hard, right? So it might look strange if it was a brooch.

I still haven't got to a complete first draft, but things are progressing. I've just - I mean, like a half hour ago - decided to replace one of my important secondary characters with a completely different character, which ordinarily would have me running around squeaking in distress, but in this case it might make some bits of the story easier for me. We shall see how that goes.

Am having some doubts about whether I'll manage to have things buttoned up by the upcoming posting date, but I'm trying for it, anyway. :)

I hope the character-switching works out for you! And I am very curious to see what you're writing (okay, I'll be up in the mountains then anyway, but when I get back). Good luck with finishing in time, but if you don't, there's still one posting weekend left. : )

Well, I posted that one-off rarefandom fic today, so I've got that out of my system. I haven't worked on my AU fic for a while, so: I pledge to do at least 100 words on it before I go to bed tonight. I'll come back to report if I make it or not...

Okay, well, I got 88 words and some googling about the Tsimshian, and that'll have to be enough. Hopefully more tomorrow!

I voted for Sunday in the poll. My additional comment is that mid-day is the least likely for me to participate ...either mid-morning Chicago time or night Chicago time are the most likely.
