Y'know how it is, when you're rolling a story around in your head, and you're starting to get some nice little bits of scenes, maybe some dialog, and it's great, except that all those little pieces that are starting to come to you are from the middle or the end of your story, and you're sitting there in front of your computer, or with your pen poised above your notebook, and nothing's happening, because you can't figure out how to start the damn story?
It's like your story is stuck inside a giant crate, and you're pacing and pacing around this thing, with a crowbar in your hand, and if you could just find a chink in the armor, just one small opening someplace where you could jam in the end of your crowbar and shove, you could blow the lid right off this thing, and get at the story stuck inside.
We have a Crowbar Scene for the C6D AU Challenge, people.
Upside: YES! OMG I HAVE BEEN PROWLING AROUND LOOKING FOR THIS DANG MOMENT FOR MONTHS! MONTHS! BREAK OUT THE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND THE CONFETTI, I'M SERIOUS!
Downside: I am at work. Stupid work.
But it's okay. I'm not likely to forget by the time I get home. :D

Date: 2013-04-22 08:26 pm (UTC)You don't have trouble starting your stories? Oh, man, that part is always the toughest for me. Ugh. Once I get rolling, I'm usually pretty good about pushing all the way through to a complete first draft - even if it's crappy, it's still a draft, so something to work with - but that first scene that gets things started is always a bear. BEARS! *giggles*
