The first time it happened, Ray thought it was a just a weird-ass dream. It probably meant he'd been spending too much time on stakeouts, which, duh.
The second time, it was the middle of the afternoon. He and Fraser were on their way to interview Mrs. O'Leary in 12B about her creepy creepster of an ex-boss, only, when he opened the car door, the world tilted sideways and Ray zigged when he should have zagged, and the next thing he knew he was watching his skinny ass follow Fraser up the sidewalk -- from his mirrors.
When they got back twenty minutes later, the Goat slid in behind the wheel, and the world went all twisty-turvy again as they switched back. "What the fuck was that?" Ray shouted, as soon as he'd found his voice.
"Are you all right, Ray?" Fraser asked, confusion plastered all over his perfect Mountie face, and from the back seat, an older guy in a matching Mountie uniform said, "Oh, would you look at that. There's magic afoot, son, I can smell it!"
Ray squeezed his eyes shut and slowly banged his head against the steering wheel. "This is not happening. I, like, fell asleep at my desk or something."
Then the radio flipped on by itself and out came a throaty baritone. "Hello, Ray, Fraser," said the Goat.
