I have been so, so sidetracked this week, but I'm still a little ahead of schedule. It is really cool to see all the different figures I've made grouped together on my craft table. I have a bunch of great beta suggestions for turtle & spaceship. I have a source lined up for Dief's safety nose, and I think I have the right paints to blend a color that will work for his eyes...assuming I still have a pair of clear safety eyes in the right size. May have to order some more, if not. I just have to get all my white-ish yarn out and figure out what to use.
Why is starting so hard? /o\ I only have about eight different shades of white! It's not like there's any reason for me to delay like this. Although I really should dig out some screencaps of Dief for reference photos. Figuring out how to work in the color variations in his coat is really daunting.

On the upside, after literally months of being totally frustrated (I've probably written and then in a fit of disgust discarded thousands of words before now) I'm finally pretty happy with what's here. It still needs a lot of editing and fussing, but the bones so far are solid.
The way this thing has worked out, I figure I've still got maybe three major scenes that need to be drafted before I have a complete first draft, and then I can go back to the beginning and start fiddling with details. I enjoy messing with the details, polishing stuff up, so I'm keeping that out in front as a reward.
